This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018.
The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.
If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
Wivelsfield Primary School and Nursery has a vacancy for a part time Teaching Assistant (15.5 hours /week; Salary SS3 £22,737 pro rata) and a part time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (11.5 hours /week; Salary SS8 £29,783 pro rata) to start as soon as possible. One person could apply for both roles, or we are equally happy for you to apply for either the TA or HLTA hours.
Situated in the heart of Wivelsfield Green, near both Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill, the school is single form entry. It benefits from spacious modern premises, with extensive grounds, and is a very popular, oversubscribed school. We pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming with a strong ‘community ethos'.
The successful candidate(s) will work in several classes across the school for both the TA and HLTA role. The HLTA role will include planning and covering for PPA in some classes. As well as supporting children in their curriculum learning, part of the role of the TA would be to support the development of speech and language for some children, mainly in small groups. Previous experience or training in speech and language support would be preferred, but is not essential as full training can be given.
We would prefer a qualified HLTA for the HLTA hours. However, if you are a confident, experienced TA, who would like to progress to becoming a HLTA, we would be happy to consider your application for that role, as long as you would be willing to undertake the training.
The successful candidate will
- be a flexible team player
- be committed to promoting high standards in all aspects of school life
- have a genuine passion for working to achieve the best outcomes for all children, including those with SEND
- be keen to engage in continuing professional development
The school will offer:
- a happy and supportive environment in spacious modern premises
- a school that is forward thinking
- good professional development opportunities
