Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants needed for long-term, possibly permanent, opportunities in Pupil Referral Units/Alternative Provisions in Newport School: Primary and Secondary settings.
Students at these schools display varying emotional behavioral difficulties and Special Education needs.
The focus is working closely with students and supporting their re-integration into Mainstream Schools.
All schools can all be accessed via Public transport. Role: Full-time, or casual basis.
An ability to build relationships with children from varying backgrounds, whilst focusing support on literacy and numeracy needs.
1:1 or in small classroom environments, where there is generally 3-7 students.
Full training and support will be provided by experienced SEN teachers and support staff who have key knowledge of the student base. Requirements:
- Enthusiastic, patient and resilient nature
- Genuine passion for student learning and well-being
- Flexibility in adapting to changes in daily programming
- Passion and willingness to work settings with challenging behaviour
- NO previous SEND experience is required, but is advantageous
- De-escalation training such as Team Teach or MAPA would be beneficial but not essential, as training can be provided
- Current DBS or willingness to apply
