Job description

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic, creative, committed Teaching Assistant with high expectations of achievement, attainment and behaviour to work in our friendly school.  The position will be a permanent role. Working with a variety of children, one to one and also in small groups. The working days will be Monday to Friday to start 2nd September 2024. The role will be term time only plus 5 training days. The contract will have a probationary period of 6 months, where regular meetings will take place to discuss how the job is going. 

Our children are a real pleasure to work with and our curriculum is both creative and exciting. 

The role:

  • To work with children who have additional needs, particularly those with complex communication needs or children with Social and Emotional needs.
  • Inspire children to learn in all areas of our creative curriculum.
  • To build relationships on a one-to-one basis with young children.
  • Work flexibly, closely and collaboratively with colleagues in our friendly, hardworking staff team.    
  • To attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters.
  • To establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  • To encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • To be aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to the teacher as agreed.
  • To support pupils to understand instructions.
  • To support pupils in respect of local and national learning strategies.
  • To be familiar and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, keeping children safe in education, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • To contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
  • To participate in training/meetings and other learning activities and performance development as required.
  • To accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.
  • To undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the post.

This role will also require lunchtime assistance for hour an hour every day of the week.
