Teaching Assistant with SEMH experience

TeacherActive are looking for Teaching Assistants with SEN / SEMH experience to work in our Barnsley schools. We work closely with multiple schools in Barnsley that support children who have various different additional learning needs ranging from mild to more severe. These schools offer support and education to students of different ages, both primary and secondary ages, with one of our schools even catering for EYFS and Post-16. 

As a Teaching Assistant your responsibilities will include assisting the teacher with lessons, working 1:1 with SEN students who have complex needs and creating a calm and purposeful learning environment. We build great relationships with our schools and support staff so we can find the best placements for you. We are looking for SEN TA / SEN Teaching Assistant to cover day to day, short-term and long-term placements supporting children with their education. This is a great chance to gain an abundance of experience to add to your profile and keep everyday exciting.

The ideal SEN TA / SEN Teaching Assistant should have the following:

• Level 2/ 3 in a relevant qualification and/or experience in a care, support work or school environment
• Good communication skills
• A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
• Experience in working with supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis
