Overall Purpose of the Role :

To deliver a quality learning and teaching programme within a small prison environment.
To provide support to the operations manager and perform appropriate day to day management duties and delivery of learning.
The post holder will work within the appropriate legislative and policy frameworks.
Key Responsibilities

- Effective management of staff and operations of the learning centre, including timetabling, and working closely with the operations manager and local SPS management.
- To lead and manage staff within own area through the whole employment life cycle, including CLPL and development.
- Effective communication with local SPS management as required and agreed with operations manager.
- Deliver and assess a range of qualifications in accordance with quality frameworks, lead body and awarding body procedures and processes.
- Responsible for the efficient development, effective and equitable implementation of timetabling within the learning centre and other designated learning areas.
- Ensure accurate reporting of monthly information reports and any other contractual data required.
- Attend and contribute to operational meetings with local SPS establishment as agreed with operations manager.
- Create a positive learning atmosphere encouraging learner interest, motivation and achievement.
- In conjunction with the digital and curriculum manager, contribute and lead in the development of learning opportunities across the SPS contract including but not limited to accredited course, non-accredited and e-learning.
- Create, develop, review and improve learning resources and assessments to ensure they are relevant, up to date and comply with quality standards.
- To be responsible for creating an inclusive, non discrimatory learning environment in line with Fife College policy and proceures ensuring all learning resources and teaching strategies are appropriate and relevant to different groups of learners.
- Ensure the induction process is carried out in line contractual requirements
- Implement and monitor quality assurance processes and procedures which includes unit lead role for prison based staff as agreed with the curriculum and digital manager.
- Support, nurture and maintain partnership working to ensure shared aims and objectives are agreed and delivered as outlined in the annual learning plan (ALP).
- Liaise with the digital and curriculum manager and Open University to support the delivery of HE courses
- Support and improve the staff use of technology in accessing various digital platforms.
- Teaching and cover of classes when appropriate to support delivery of the contract.
- Maintain accurate records of learner attendance and achievement ensuring that all required data is recorded in line with college and SPS policy and procedures.
- Responsibility for implementing risk assessments and ensuring compliance with health and safety guidance, policy and procedures.
- Work in other Learning Centres when required to support the wider team.
- Any other comparable duties as reasonably required by operations manager.

External contacts include: SPS, Education Scotland, Local authorities, arts organisations and other organisations, awarding and accreditation bodies such as SQA, Colleges Scotland and other ‘quality standard’ bodies.
Internal contacts include: academic quality leads, academic quality managers, teaching staff, quality team, marketing, HR, CLPL, digital, FCSA, Inclusion, exams and registry.

Education & Qualifications
- Educated to minimum HND level (SCQF Level 8) in relevant area.
- SQA units aligned to the National Occupational Standards for assesment, planning and internal verification, or be willing to work towards

Experience
- Previous teaching or training experience.
- Knowledge of a range of awarding bodies such as REHIS, RoSPA, ASDAN.
- Experience working with offenders or hard to reach learners.

- Proven track record of working a range of partners to deliver learning outcomes.
