Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:-

Having an extensive understanding of the importance of productivity, quality, and the technical functional and being responsible for leading production/packing team(s) ensuring that all duties are performed to the highest of standards. In summary you will be required to manage the day to day running of an area in the production/packing shift where allocated and to implement initiatives to improve productivity.

Ideal candidate will have worked in a food production environment.

Hours of work: 13:00-21.30, 30 min rest break per shift.

In addition to the hourly rate of pay funding and support for continuous professional development: level 2 NVQ Team Leadership and Level 3 is available.

DUTIES:-

· Responsible for the day to day setting and running of an expected line or area, e.g. Line 1 in packing or the mixing room in production, of the production/packing shift (where allocated) to achieve maximum efficiency and output and the highest achievable quality of product.

· To liaise with the Technical department, Shift Manager in order to ensure the most efficient flow of work, dependent on order schedules and practical limitations.

· Promote a safety first culture by ensuring that start up checks are completed and actioned, that the appropriate people only are operating machinery and that all accidents and near misses are reported and recommendations actioned after investigation.

· Making sure that products are produced against the schedule and are of the expected quality;
· Supervising and motivating the bakery operatives in their allocated area. Motivating staff by involving them as a whole and by developing individuals to enhance the team.
· Preparation and collection of relevant production sheets and completion of quality documentation as required including Tropos.

· To ensure that all production/packing staff are aware of their responsibilities and duties outlined in product quality and food safety instructions.

· Liaise with the Shift Manager to review the performance of your direct reports.

· Insist and promote a culture of inclusive responsibility for a clean-as-you-go policy being adhered to and maintains the department in a visit ready state at all times. Ensure that all cleaning procedures are correctly performed as required.

· Understand the plan and prioritises work in order to attain the plan. Ensuring that the correct quality and yield quantity is achieved

· Make Engineering aware of maintenance requirements in their given areas.

· To ensure all production/packing staff are correctly trained for any duties they may perform.

· To identify faults and breakdowns on production/packing machinery and decide correct course of action to rectify.

· To provide immediate and appropriate action in the event of a food safety issue occurring to ensure that all contaminated or unsafe product is identified, isolated and does not leave the premises and to escalate to the Shift Manager and Technical.

· To liaise with the Supply Chain & Technical Manager on any issue relating to product that is out of specification for whatever reason.

· Liaise and assist the Shift Manager to identify team competencies and training requirements in their given area.

· Manage and organise seamless and quick changeovers to prevent lost time.

· Monitoring the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed;

· Complete all necessary bakery paperwork to include;

· Record of Discussion

· Self Certification & Return to Work

· Personal Improvement Plans

These should be provided to HR in a timely manner to ensure that any necessary further action can take place quickly.

· Duties on the PM according to skill set, either Packing or Production to work/liaise and be completely interchangeable with the Shift Manager.
