I am currently recruiting for a Heating, Mechanical and Electrical (HME) Team Managerin the Housing & Neighbourhood Service team of a leading public sector organisation in Sheffield. This team manage around 39,000 homes and an ever-growing private rented sector market.
I am looking for someone with a proven track record in delivering heating, mechanical and electrical projects in multi – discipline building services schemes for asset renewal, refurbishment and new build, with a focus on rented dwellings and commercial sites.
As the successful applicant you will be responsible for:
- Accountability for successful performance on Heating, Mechanical & Electrical projects and installations across dwellings and commercial sites.
- Estimate, tender, manage & deliver Heating, Mechanical and Electrical Projects from inception to completion
- Procurement and financial control of projects
- Manage, guide and direct staff and contractors on projects
- Responsibility for legionella management, undertaking our Responsible Officer role within L8 regulations
- Health & safety and Project Management responsibility during project delivery
- Liaison and collaboration with partners, networks and a wide range of stakeholders
The experience and qualifications we are looking for –
- An appropriate qualification, to HNC/HND level in a related subject or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of capability based on practical experience
- Relevant managerial experience of the building industry with particular relevance to the Heating, Mechanical and Electrical Sector
- Be qualified in either ACS Accreditation CCN1,CEN1, HTR1,WAT1 and a sound understanding of solid fuel systems, LPG and Multi-fuel systems or 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualification with a trade background / extensive knowledge of electrical installations
- A full understanding of the legislation relating to legionella and the appropriate action to be taken to ensure property is managed according to the regulations including responsibilities under L8.
- Experience of delivering the required safety standards across all areas of work of responsibility and in particular the Health and Safety at Work Act in relation to Gas Safety and Electrical Safety
- An understanding of the legislation relating to asbestos containing material and the appropriate action to be taken to ensure the Health and Safety of customers and staff
- Extensive relevant managerial experience of the building industry with particular relevance to the Heating, Mechanical and Electrical Sector

The location of the Site is in S4 with Free parking.
There is a requirement for you to carry out site visits to customers’ homes and properties across the city. This is roughly 50% office based, 25% working out on site with the remainder of time either working in the office or remotely at home.
It is envisaged that for the first 6-9 months in post you will mostly be in the office or on site.
