Job description

About the Team

Archaeology Warwickshire have been providing commercial archaeology and heritage services since the 1980s and we are proud of our focus on a healthy work-life balance and our commitment to enabling people to be the best they can be. Our training and CPD offer is second to none - probably.

This is a full time and permanent position with outstanding benefits in a long established CIfA Registered Organisation.

About the Role

We seek a motivated and inspiring archaeologist to join our management team. We have an exciting range of commercial projects to deliver and you will need the wherewithal to manage fieldwork and post-excavation tasks whilst also line-managing some of our multi-talented and ambitious people.

As part of our management team you will take responsibility for a portfolio of commercial projects from inception to delivery. As a team player you will be keen to coach, advise and mentor across the business profile. We want someone who will use initiative to problem solve without losing sight of what matters most – our people.

This role will suit an individual highly experienced in UK commercial archaeology, with excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a collaborative culture. If you haven’t previously considered a management role this could be the ideal place to start. If you have considerable experience in archaeological management and you are looking for a change, we will consider a more senior post with an appropriate remuneration c.£50K.

Key Requirements

You will liaise with clients and devise innovative and exciting schemes that meet their needs and generate a research dividend:

  • prepare tenders and negotiate deliverables according to their value and potential public benefit,
  • organise fieldwork and act as conduit between stakeholders and the wider team,
  • track and manage project deliverables and finances across multiple projects,
  • oversee the progress of multiple post-excavation projects,
  • edit and proof reports in appropriate formats,
  • ensure customer and stakeholder satisfaction,
  • model the behaviours of our organisation and that of a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.

You will need a degree or post-graduate qualification in archaeology or a related discipline;

  • a valid and clean UK driving licence with a commitment to drive your own vehicle
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (MCIfA) or commitment to join at that level
  • A recognised health and safety qualification (IOSH / SMSTS) or commitment to obtain one

Candidates are advised to contact the recruiting manager to discuss the vacancy and their application before submission.
