This is a tailored six-month programme, with the expectation to transition to a permanent role.

A bit about the job:
Responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining cyber security controls and solutions ( based on industry standards and best practices ) to protect systems, networks and data within allocated area(s) of responsibility, whilst ensuring compliance with policies, regulations and standards.
As a Security Engineer , you r responsibilities will include:
  • Ensur ing that platforms execute activities required to adhere to our version of I nformation Technology ( IT ) & Business Process Standard ( BPS ) controls, driving the optimisation of processes that will improve quality, consistency and compliance .
  • Manag ing risks, controls, issues and actions aligned to the platform area, including ensuring adherence to process Service Level Agreement (SLAs) & dates .
  • Manag ing vulnerabilities reported against assets supported by the team , oversee their resolution and organis e and/or support pen testing .
  • Support ing i nternal & external audit activities & Financial Reporting and Control Framework reviews .
  • Lead/ s upport platform control assessments .
  • Undertake regular reviews with Platform Leads on the p latform security position, including enabling the provision of robust & timely MI, ensuring data accuracy, supporting progress reporting, insight, and decision making .

Skills and experience we're looking for:
  • Knowledge of risk and control management framework s , ensuring that action s are progressed pragmatically and consistently .
  • Experience of working to the policies, processes and standards set by IT and security teams , ensur ing the security aspects of the platforms are implemented and managed in an effective and appropriate manner .
  • Prior experience in designing or assessing the efficiency of processes, systems, and controls with the ability to identify key business risks.
  • Possess the ability to foster and build good working relationships within and outside of the function.

A bit about the Programme:
  • Aviva is offering a paid six-month returner programme starting in May 2024, with the expectation of a permanent role at the end.
  • The Security Engineer (Cyber) roles will be based at our Norwich office.
  • Aviva flexes hours and working patterns to suit its customers, business, and you.
  • Most people are smart working - spending around 50% of their time in our offices every week, combining the benefits of flexibility with time together with colleagues .
  • Y ou may need to be willing to relocate if you don't currently live within commuting distance of the Norwich office . That way you'll get to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, and get access to the right internal support networks to help you to succeed.
  • Your journey on the programme starts with easing you in on your first day - getting your IT Kit and meeting your Leader and Buddy . This is followed by a Programme Induction on Days 2 & 3 where you'll meet the Programme Leads and the other returners joining. During this time you'll find out more about Aviva and the programme and join your first of four Career Returners Coaching Workshops
  • You'll then join your team where you'll collaborate with lots of forward-thinking people - working alongside, sharing ideas with, and learning from the best in the business.
  • You'll get to work (and play) with all the latest tech and be involved in some fascinating initiatives to make life better for our customers or colleagues. Nothing beats the buzz of seeing a project you've worked on save a colleague valuable time or put a smile on a customer's face.
  • Throughout the Programme, you'll have a great internal and external support to help you to transition successfully back into the workplace, including a Leader, Mentor and Buddy and specialised returner coaching.
  • You'll also enjoy the support of your peers and the Programme Leads on the returner programme and from previous cohorts.

  • Starting salary between £45,000 to £55,000 depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications .
