Essential recruitment are currently looking to recruit a Technical Assistant due to continued growth and expansion at our client in Burton.
The ideal candidate must have a good eye for detail, flexible approach to work, previous experience in a similar ole with a understanding or understanding of GMP.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an expanding company on a temporary to permanent basis.

Daily Tasks:
- Provide support to the Quality Officer.
- Maintain records on spreadsheets and databases, to include but not limited to inspections, rejections, retained samples, sample weights and shelf-life information.
- Support raw material / packaging sampling.
- Inspection and release of incoming raw materials and packaging.
- Inspection and release of finished products against product specifications. This includes but may not be limited to a review or production records, Critical Control Point checks.
- Review supplier documents, including Certificates of Analysis and test reports, relating to incoming materials.
- Send samples to external Laboratories for testing. Review and interpret test results against material / product specifications.
- Raise Non-conformance notifications where product supplied does not meet specification.
- Liaise with Head Office departments to ensure the maintenance of an effective quality assurance function.
- Liaise and correspond with suppliers and Holland and Barrett supply chain personnel regarding quality issues, NCRs and priorities arising from raw materials / packaging.
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of Customer complaints, production quality problems and issues raised by local authorities.
- Liaise with production department personnel in matters relating to quality and food safety within the production areas.
- Engage in sensory and organoleptic assessment of materials where required.
- Glass and brittle plastic (G&P) checks where requested.
- When required, manage individual project assignments that are associated with the role.
- Opportunity to train and progress to undertaking internal audits
- It is expected that the post holder will provide relief cover for the duties of other Technical Services and Co Pack Technical staff, particularly on occasion of holidays and sickness. There may also be ad hoc duties as requested by the business as a whole.
Skills Required:
- An understanding or experience of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within a food manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment, to include allergen awareness.
- Previous Quality Assurance or Quality control experience in a food manufacturing environment is highly advantageous.
- HACCP Level 2
- Food Safety Level 2
- Understanding of BRC requirements is a distinct advantage.
Hours of work:
- Flexible hours to suit the Business over all shifts 06:00-14:00/14:00-22:00/22:00-06:00
- 40 hours basic per week
Pay rate:
- £28,000 – £30,000 dependent on experience and shifts worked
