Available locations: Birmingham, Ipswich, Sheffield or London

Working style: 3 days a week office, 2 days anywhere. 

 

 

Why this job matters


BT is undergoing a major transformation in service management to revolutionize our work processes and the service we provide to our customers. A key component of this transformation is the creation of a best-in-class Pan BT Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for Networks, which will establish vital linkages and dependencies to drive our processes. 

  

We are looking for someone with strong communication, analytical, and planning skills to work on the delivery of the CMDB. Depending on your skills and the programme's needs, this could involve managing a squad to integrate requirements across value streams or focusing on Technical Delivery

  

This role is crucial to the success of the Operational Excellence programme. You will be part of a Tribe that includes 8 squads focused on various aspects of service management, from ITIL standardization and service monitoring to resource assurance, automation, and advanced diagnostics. Your contribution will be pivotal in shaping a robust service framework that optimizes performance, reduces costs, and enhances customer experience. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for driving actions which get us to having a robust, accurate, Pan BT CMDB, specifically focussed on the Networks data initially. 
  • Responsible for Technical Delivery of CMDB improvements (via DevOps, or personally dependant on training / upskilling) 
  • Identifies and implements ways to improve team, process and service performance and suggests and implements changes to how team operates. 
  • Identifies opportunities to resolve risks and issues relating to delivery and any impacts on related components or teams. 
  • Partners with a range of internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues, update on progress and achieve benefits. 
  • Coordinates a diverse team to deliver medium sized, technical projects within a specific domain which enable benefits for customers across a portfolio of projects. 
  • Leverages technical expertise to monitor all actions and activities, from scope to delivery, to ensure adherence to technical roadmap and time and budget constraints. 

What you'll bring

 

Mandatory

 

  • Experience of project delivery in an agile environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to derive insight from raw data and produce informative, relevant, and user-friendly reports.
  • Operational understanding / experience of ITIL processes.
  • Evidence of being able to coordinate a diverse team and to plan and manage delivery in a complex multi project environment.
  • Experience of internal and external stakeholders management.
  • Identifies opportunities to resolve risks and issues, addressing impacts on related components or teams.


Desirable:

 

  • Experience of functionality delivery in a ServiceNow environment.
  • Previously work as a CMDB analyst / manager or equivalent role.
