Technical Manager

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be exclusively recruiting for a plastics manufacturing business based in Chesterfield, who are looking for an ambitious Technical Manager to join the team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for either an experienced people manager or someone who is looking for a step up in their career, to join a successful BRC accredited site.
The role of Technical Manager will require:

• Management of the technical aspects of new sales projects from initial concept through to full production implementation, on time and within budget
• Perform detailed evaluation of new sales opportunities to produce technical specifications and estimate tooling/equipment costs for production
• Tooling/equipment supplier management including selection, negotiation, and performance monitoring
• Represent the Company and provide support to the sales and commercial teams in technical discussions with existing and potential new customers
• Management of design team to ensure that projects and mould designs meet customer requirements and agreed specifications
• Management of all technical teams which includes, maintenance team, tooling team and setting team to ensure best practice is adopted in all manufacturing areas
• Co-ordination and management of production line trials to ensure that critical performance characteristics and specifications are achieved
• Support the Operations Manager in the management of Manufacturing OEE and resourcing of improvement projects
• Support the Quality Team to ensure all products are produced to specification and any manufacturing defects are identified and remedied in a timely manner
• To assist H&S Manager in compliance of :- pressure vessel regulations, lifting equipment regulations, asbestos management, cooling tower maintenance

To be considered for the Technical Manager role you will need:

• Extensive engineering design knowledge including knowledge of engineering standards and best practices e.g., RCM, Six Sigma Green Belt
• Minimum of 3 years experience managing maintenance activity
• Experience in technical specification/design processes and project management (Prince 2 or equivalent)
• People management skills and experience, including training and coaching
• IT literate - MS Office and CAD systems
• Technical or operational background, with experience in packaging products
• Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
• Experience in injection moulding (essential) and blow moulding (preferred) technology
