We are looking for 2x Technical Operatives!
At our Production site based in Isleham we are looking for a team player who can exceed in their duties to help us retain our position as a leading fresh produce supplier in the UK. We’re dedicated to using the very best of sustainable farming techniques in our own farming and collaborating with other expert farmers. We grow the finest quality potatoes, root vegetables which we pack ourselves to supply to our customers.
You will join us on a fulltime, permanent contract.
The shift pattern will be on Panama Blue Shift – 05:30 to 18:15 equating to 80.5 per fortnight.
Responsibility
The Job Role
We are looking for an experienced Technical Operative to join the Production Department to play a key role in ensuring that quality standards are met, and customer orders are completed on time.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Quality
- Work very closely with the Team Leader, Shift Quality Auditor, and the Packing Manager on a daily basis to ensure that quality standards are met to ensure product Legality, Quality and Safety.
- Take full responsibility for yourself, to ensure that all relevant quality control paperwork is being filled in, checked and signed off correctly, cintex calibration, label checks, weight checks, temperature checks, collecting packs from each consignment number packed for shelf life samples labelling them up as ‘shelf life’, with the consignment number and depot day recorded on the bag.
- Instil Quality Consciousness in the team by educating all staff about acceptable standards.
- Ensure that all products are packed to within the customer specification and that you work closely with the Team Leaders and Operators to ensure nil error and to maintain high quality standards.
- Quality is to be the main focus to ensure all products packed meet all the necessary quality standards BFP Isleham and all the customers BFP Isleham supply expect.
Operations
- At the start of each production shift, ensure that all relevant line pre-start checks have been carried out and signed off. Confirm that any follow-up actions that might be required have been reported as necessary to the Supervisor.
- Ensure that you arrive at work with ample time to complete the line pre-start checks. Ensure that all pre-start checks are adequately filed and accessible.
- Ensure that line performance records are completed and up to date at all times and that all production is accurately recorded.
- To drive machine efficiencies and ensure that all performance measurement boards are utilised. To achieve and challenge / exceed performance targets.
- Ensure all documentation is being filled in accurately and in accordance with site Quality Procedures.
- Report to the Supervisor on a regular and informal basis during each shift, details of unplanned downtime and any other such problems which might impact on Customer Service and Production Performance.
- Monitor waste and take a proactive approach with your team[s] in reducing both raw material and packaging waste within the department.
- Ensure 100% compliance to the factory plan which will be drawn up by and agreed with the Planning and Logistics Manager and agreed with the Shift/Factory Leader.
- Assist and support the Supervisor in the implementation of a rolling plan for continuously improving the manufacturing operation within the department, paying particular attention to Quality, Safety and Cost.

What we are looking for
- 1 Years experience in a similar role
- Computer literacy (experience in NAV ERP System is ideal)
- Good level of English – Speech and Written
- Strong Numeracy Skills
