Technical Sales Manager

This is an exceptional and NEW opportunity to work within an exciting SME manufacturing business on a fast growth path. The company has a unique, patented and innovative trenchless pipelaying technology targeted towards the gas, water and other utilities sectors in the UK and Europe which has seen rapid growth in recent years.

Following recent US acquisition and in support of their continued growth and overall operational success, the hands-on role of Technical Sales Manager (TSM) is to take responsibility primarily for revenue generation in the UK and then European markets. This role has a very broad brief due to the size of the company and it is essential for the individual to be flexible, adaptable and prepared to turn their hand to a number of differing tasks within the organisation.

The responsibility of the TSM is to create and set strategic revenue goals and then achieve those goals and propose any technical enhancements to the Company. The role is 'hands on' in terms of field trials, demos and training as this is the most convincing way to convert prospects. Key account management and growth of new client relationships is core.

Working closely with Operations Manager to ensure efficient supply chain management and build team culture in UK operation, the role of Technical Sales Manager includes:

-    Build, manage and convert the sales pipeline on a structured, methodical basis to ensure the predictable delivery of revenue.

-    Provide sales forecasts by product line to support operational activity and stock availability. Input into cash flow forecasts.

-    Use technical knowledge to convincingly present solutions to prospects and customers.

-    Work on social media platforms to build the company's profile further in the UK.

-    Drive marketing activities and play active role in organising and attending exhibitions.

-    Manage key customer and distributor relationships both in the UK and Europe.

-    Drive adoption and usage within customer base who already own equipment.

-    Consider and propose any technical enhancements that will meet both customer need and commercial cost/benefit hurdles. Liaise as necessary with third party design teams and the internal Company on implementation of projects. 

-    Support operational activity with product assembly, dispatching of goods, receiving goods, to ensure stock availability and to satisfy customer orders.

To support this unique and broad-spectrum role, you will need to be:

-    Strong customer facing skills both in technical and commercial environments.

-    Winning mentality with record of revenue delivery and commercial success.

-    Strong technical/practical skills.

-    Ability to build relationships from job site through to middle management and company owners.

-    Highly self-motivated and self-starter who can operate without daily supervision/management.

-    Good understanding of social media platforms and how to work them to achieve results.

Qualifications

-    Mechanical Engineering qualification preferable but not essential.

-    Previous experience in gas and/or water industry is preferred.

-    EUSR registered for gas and/or water required (training can be provided if not).

-    Experience of B2B sales & marketing activities including CRM.

-    Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes. 

-    Clean driving license / valid passport / eligible to work in UK - some travel to Europe and the US will be required.

This position offers a competitive salary range plus car allowance and bonus. It can be a hybrid working role but will require regular and close working activity with their UK office in Staffordshire.
