After a period of sustained growth, a precision machining customer of ours in the Greater Portsmouth area is looking for a Technical Sales Manager / Engineer to join their organisation.
Summary
Proactively engaging new and existing customers in promoting and offering support / advice on the company’s range of precision CNC Machining services.
Responsibilities Include;
- Calculate client quotations and manage all aspects of client accounts.
- Acting as a conduit between Customer, Commercial, Engineering and Production for the generation of new business, collecting customer requirements and defining project scope.
- Providing Technical representation in new customer and project meetings as well as supporting Commercial Director when required at customer visits, trade events and seminars.
- Defining new project requirements with potential customers ready for costing and quoting, clearly defining specification, timing, assumptions and deliveries.
- Producing high level costings and payback models to evaluate project viability
- Writing of proposals, quotations, presentations and RFQ responses.
- Negotiate tenders and contract terms and conditions to meet both client and company needs.
- Supporting process improvements for all Sales related activities.
- Reviewing previously quoted jobs to ensure profitability and lessons learnt from completed jobs.
- Provide training and produce support material for other members of the sales team.
- When required, communicate progress updates/changes to both the customer and internal stakeholders.
Experience Required;
- Experienced in manufacturing processes and understanding technical documentation, ideally in complex metallic machining.
- Proven experience in a technical account management and/or sales role.
- Proven experience in team management and leadership (DESIREABLE).
- Demonstrable experience of quoting and customer management, including Business Development/Sales activities.
- Good understanding of precision machining production processes (DESIREABLE).
- Experience of within the Automotive, Motorsport or Aerospace sector (DESIREABLE).
- Able to communicate with enthusiasm and clarity.
- Able to think laterally and creatively.
