Technical Writer

We are currently seeking a skilled Contract Technical Writer (PAYE) to join our client's Technical Communications team in Gloucester for up to 8 months.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in creating and updating operating and maintenance content alongside relevant subject matter experts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with the engineering team on innovative projects encompassing hardware and software components.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project engineering teams to create, update, and maintain technical assembly, maintenance, and operational content.
Work closely with engineers to observe product assemblies and accurately document procedures.
Produce structured documentation within a content management system to optimise comprehension and ease of use.
Develop clear, concise, and accurate content tailored to a diverse global audience.
Edit documents to adhere to corporate standards and style guidelines.
Gather source information from various internal documentation sources including CAD drawings, specifications, and interviews.
Manage review cycles and integrate feedback to enhance document quality.
Generate and modify graphics, including capturing engineering assembly photos, cropping images, adding callouts, and producing renders/exploded views from engineering CAD models.
Experience and Skills:
Demonstrable technical writing and editing skills with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Familiarity with content management systems and structured authoring environments.
Understanding of Simplified Technical English would be advantageous.
Previous experience in an engineering environment, particularly in documenting hardware assemblies.
Proficiency in software applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or Creo for image creation and editing.
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills to effectively manage information flow from contributors and reviewers.
Excellent team player with exceptional communication abilities.
Meticulous attention to detail with a proactive approach to improving existing processes and documentation.
Self-motivated, quick learner, and positive attitude with outstanding interpersonal skills to facilitate the creation of high-quality user documentation.
