We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Technology Centre Leadership Team as Senior Operations Manager of our UK Hydrodynamic Trials Facilities. The role is key in driving operational performance and cultural change as the facility benefits from significant capital investment and capability uplift to meet the enduring requirements of the future programme.
Location – Reading / Basingstoke area
Package – Starting from £58,500 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

You will provide a focal point for the day-to-day leadership and management of operations, ensuring the integrated programme of work is delivered in a compliant, safe, secure, and cost-effective manner
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensuring operational readiness and availability of capability to UK programme
- Delivering high quality Radiographic/Hydrodynamic trials to time cost and schedule
- Managing safe operational control of processes and capabilities within the regulatory framework
- Managing and developing competent multidisciplined teams
- Collaboration as appropriate with the French EPURE Hydrodynamic trials operations teams
- Enabling ongoing technology development and sustainment of the capability (People, processes, and plant)
- Strong people and culture focus to manage through change and deliver continuous performance improvement
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to minimize risks and optimise opportunities for effective delivery of capability.
- Work with AWE’s estate management to direct strategic investments which deliver capability in accordance with the long term Technology Centre Capability Plan.
- Maintain effective relationships with the Technology Centre’s key suppliers, and ensure that planning within functions is consistent with the delivery to the Programme.
- Maintain an effective relationship with the Technology Centre’s supplying functional managers, and ensure that manpower planning and capability within functions is consistent with the long term Technology Centre Capability Plan.
- Develop collaborations and opportunities with supply chain and external stakeholders, including, where appropriate, US laboratories, to deliver cost savings and ensure business resilience.
