Job Title: Technology Operations Manager

Location: London (Hybrid)
Job Requirement: Full time / hybrid

The Technology team provide software delivery activities across a suite of Sporting Group applications, in turn providing a service to our users. The Technology department is made up of a CTO, Head of Development & Development team as well as a testing function to support the business needs.

What will you do

The Technology Operations Manager will report directly into the Head of Technology and hold responsibility for the smooth running and direction of all Sporting Solutions Technology Operations functions, ranging from Tier1 support and Helpdesk to Tier2 platform and network operations for triage and fix.
As well as ensuring Operational excellence daily, the Technology Operations Manager will work directly with business stakeholders and other departments to implement new capabilities for service delivery, along with continually improving the current operations via agile working, automation, processes enhancement, collaboration and observability.

Your main responsibilities are to

  • Manage day to day running of all teams, monitoring workflows and SLA’s whilst ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Take ownership (to completion/resolution) of escalated (i.e. priority / technically complex) tickets, ensuring the customer is kept informed at all times & that SLA's are met.
  • Drive a program of continuous improvement throughout each team. Targeted towards visibility, observability and automation of all systems.
  • Ensure the Group's underlying technical infrastructure is fit for purpose, supported and licensed.
  • Lead our Vulnerability Management practice, driving policy improvement and governance of our Vulnerability state.
  • Lead our Incident Management practice, driving process improvements and collaboration throughout the organization.
  • Full management of escalated major P1/P2 incidents, ensuring that any / all customers affected are kept well informed. This includes incident reporting (i.e. documentation) and root cause analysis on resolution.
  • Lead our Change Management practice, driving process improvements, engagement and communications throughout the organization.
  • Manage all personnel aspects within the team, including, but not limited to ensuring appropriate staffing at all times, payroll and HR ceremonies.
  • Assist the Head of Technology in delivery of our Vendor Management for all SaaS, software and hardware licensing, supporting procurement processes and monitor software and hardware licensing to ensure the business is suitably covered and documented.
  • Assist the Head of Technology in developing, monitoring and management of our Technical OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
  • Definition and ownership of the processes for Technology Operations.
  • Support of all technical regulatory and compliance processes for UKGC, WLA and ISO 27001.
  • Definition and Delivery of our backup strategy (including Ransomware), data integrity and data retention policies.
Skills required
  • 3+ years of leading a Technology Operations, Cloud Operations or Platform Operations team in a fast-paced organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of creating a culture within the teams of inclusiveness and forward thinking. A team of people that work hard and respect each other and enjoy engaging in social activities together.
  • Experience of driving team improvement through SMART goal setting and metric performance measurement.
  • Extensive experience of platform engineering and operations methodologies, including an automation first approach driven by IaC and a well delivered Source of Truth.
  • Demonstrable experience of driving teams using Scrum practices and ceremonies.
  • Extensive experience of systems and operating systems, such as: Linux, Windows, K8S, Ansible, Veaam, Kafka, Redis, Sumologic, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Experience of Infrastructure solutions, such as: Blade Compute, Flash Storage, Networking, Load Balancing and Firewalls
  • Experience of Cloud hyperscalers, such as: GCP, AWS and Azure and supporting technologies
What we are looking for

  • Experience delivering software as a service and consumer facing ecommerce services.

  • Experience of developing process for service improvement
  • Expert in incident and problem resolution processes including rapid resolution methods, and root cause analysis
  • Experience of commissioning and managing infrastructure to support a microservices based architecture
  • Experience working in a gambling related business
