Hays Accountancy & Finance are pleased to be supporting a local charity who are seeking a temporary Payroll Clerk to process a monthly payroll for circa 450 staff.
Your new role
In this temporary Payroll Clerk / Payroll Officer job, you will support the HR & Finance team in collating payroll data and process the payroll on a combined HR & Payroll system - Cascade.

This will involve working closely with HR regarding new starters, updating bank details and checking timesheet hours submitted by regional managers and preparing the monthly payroll. You will have the sole responsibility for deducting SSP, SMP, Tax Attachment of earnings, pension, etc, and checking any over-payments as well as submitting RTI reports to HMRC.

As the interim Payroll Clerk, you will also deal with pay queries and produce payroll journal costs for the finance team to allocate these payroll costs to specific projects and other ad-hoc payroll duties.

What you will need to succeed
You will be immediately available and have experience of processing end-to-end payroll as a Senior Payroll Clerk or Bookkeeper who has proven payroll experience. This will be an office-based role, working 35 hours a week, but we will consider Temporary Payroll professionals who may be looking for flexible working hours as this is a critical business role to fill.

We expect you to be fully aware of payroll legislation and able to give commitment to an ongoing Temporary Payroll job as the charity will be looking for a permanent appointment.
What you will get in return
As explained, this is a Temporary Payroll job, and you will be paid an hourly rate of circa £27,000 - £30,000 depending on experience.
