What’s the opportunity?

 

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Test Bakery Manager to join our Technical team, to support Hovis to deliver on its vision of being the best quality brand in bakery. This role has one direct people reports and responsibility for the Test Bakery in terms of H&S, workload and equipment management.

 

What will you be doing?

  • Orchestrating the production of bread and other bakery products in the Test Bakery under controlled conditions to contribute to ongoing product improvement and new product development for Hovis.
  • Ensuring completion and reporting of product assessments from plant trials and test baking, comparing against required specifications.
  • Overseeing Central Bread assessment, including completion, reporting, and weekly trend analysis.
  • Taking charge of the day-to-day operations of the Test Bakery at High Wycombe.

 

We're looking for someone who has true leadership qualities and can take ownership of this function within Hovis. You'll own what you do and have a knack for influencing different stakeholders in a positive way. Your positivity, encouragement, and consistency will help you guide individuals towards specific tasks and behaviours.

 

The most important thing for this role is that you have a passion for bakery and food technology, and a real eagerness to get stuck in and learn. We would be happy to consider a recent graduate studying a relevant subject.

 

What are ‘must haves’ from you?

  • PC literate 
  • Self-starter – can work on own initiative 
  • Team worker 
  • Interest in Food Science 
  • Excellent Communication skills 
  • Good organisational and time-management skills 
  • A-Levels or equivalent in technical subjects 
  • Attention to detail 

 

What would be ideal?

  • Bakery skills 
  • Management Experience
  • Food Industry knowledge 
  • Driving Licence
