Thales UK are currently looking for a Test Equipment Engineer to Join our growing team within our expanding Belfast Castlereagh site.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a cross functional team working across both out major production lines in Defence and also Space.
Description of Job:
The successful Test Equipment Engineer will ensure the availability and suitability of all FTE (Factory Test Equipment) across both our Belfast and Crossgar Sites.
Main duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Production PoC for all FTE issues
- Maintain FTE Functionality.
- Diagnose faults to board at component level and carry out the necessary repairs to maintain the FTE.
- Co-ordinate the resolution of any faulty software with Test engineering.
- Ensure test hardware and software revision is as per current Baselines.
- Maintain and control test software computer disks used on FTE.
- Administer Support and Calibration Contracts with outside support companies and oversee all visits from these companies.
- Raise and complete Tooling and Test Equipment Authorising Sheets using the ETIS computer system, against the repair and modification of FTE.
- Setup and maintain a computer based register for FTE, (DefCon 611 register) and a register of Instruments associated with them.
- Determine and maintain the required level of FTE spares.
- Compile MIS’s for the environmental testing of product, using data from the appropriate production conditioning specifications.
- Program and setup the environmental test chambers for the temperature screening and vibration testing of production hardware.
- Liaise with other functions to resolve FTE issues.
- Co-ordinate and progress the introduction of all new FTE and modifications to existing FTE.
The Ideal Candidate will have the following Knowledge and Experience:
- A good working knowledge of Electrical engineering, pneumatics, cryogenics and environment testing.
- A working knowledge of ATE Systems, including the Labview Data Acquisition System.
- Ability to setup and maintain the database of FTE.
- Knowledge of the safe working conditions associated with Test Equipment in explosive and environmental test areas.
- Good communications skills.
- Ability to obtain a high level of Government security clearance.
