Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.
We’re seeking an experienced Bank Support Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our customers. At Priory Avenue we provide accommodation and support for those who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness encouraging them to develop their skills and live independently.

The primary role of Bank Support/Project Worker will be to provide customers with Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) Supporting them to develop their understanding of the Rights & Responsibilities and other necessary Personal & Home management skills, to successful Move On and sustain future Independent Accommodation.
This is achieved by developing positive relationships with all customers and will include:
- Supportive key work meeting, to ensure relevant IAG is provided to encourage our customers to maximise their own potential and level of independence.
- Assessing the needs of our customers by updating support plans, and where necessary, signposting access to other specialist services.
- Supporting customers in their day to day living i.e. with cooking and cleaning
- Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
- Encouraging social inclusion and helping customers to build their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
- Encouraging customers to explore Employment & Training opportunities.
- Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the customers and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
- Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks
Desirable skills and experiences:
- Previous experience of working with vulnerable people and the ability to form positive relationships.
- A knowledge of housing management processes, including voids and arrears management and an understanding of occupancy agreements
- The ability to work on your own initiative.
- Ability to react effectively under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
- Good interpersonal and customer care skills with an approachable attitude
- Skills in maintaining accurate records and support plans.
