Bank Support Worker

Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However, you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.
We’re looking for a Bank Support Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our customers at St Aubyns Road. This is a homeless scheme with 8 rooms that have shared facilities and a one bedroomed annexe flat. We support 9 adults, who are referred to us by Eastbourne Borough Council, in temporary supported accommodation for up to a year.
We value our team and encourage learning and progression through our comprehensive induction programme, as well as ongoing training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. We have our own Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

The role of Bank Support Worker will include:
- Regularly assessing the needs of customers by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training, and employment
- Supporting customers in their day to day living e.g., with cooking and cleaning
- Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
- Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
- Encouraging social inclusion and helping customers to build their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
- Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the customers and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
- Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks
Skills and experiences:
- Previous experience of working with vulnerable people
- Sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management
- Good understanding of occupancy agreements
- The ability to work on your own initiative
- The ability to react effectively under pressure
- NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards, is essential
