Bank Support Worker

Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However, you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.

We’re looking for an experienced Bank Project Worker with the passion and drive to help our clients achieve independent living and become involved in education, training, employment or volunteering. The Service delivered is underpinned by the principles of trauma informed practice. Working with the person at the centre to identify the support they need at the time. Working with male and female survivors of domestic abuse you will enable our medium to high risk clients, in the community, to achieve their potential and live more independently within their community. Ideally, you will have experience of working with people who have suffered domestic abuse and have a passion and drive to provide support.

 

As we take a customer centered approach to delivering support, we are looking for candidates who pride themselves on having excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form positive relationships with people from varied backgrounds. You will use these skills to work with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve the best outcome for our clients. This will include supporting Independent  Domestic Violence Advisors in their role and regular key working and support planning.  In accordance with your core beliefs of delivering a genuinely needs led service, we will also look to you to help clients maximise their income, budget, pay their rent and engage with work and training.

The role of Bank Support Worker is referred to internally at Sanctuary, as Bank Project Worker.

 

The role of Bank Support Worker will include:

  • Regularly assessing the needs of clients by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training and employment
  • Assisting clients with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping clients to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the clients and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks

 

Skills and experiences:

  • You will have previous experience in a role supporting victims of domestic abuse or a background gained in a supported living environment in a Support Worker capacity
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and react effectively under pressure
  • Occasional travel may be a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is required or a willingness to travel to different services across the Torbay area
