Part Time Support Worker

 

Sandwood House, Birmingham

 

£11.52

 

16 hours per week

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join us in the role of Support Worker, to provide a high-quality service and join our team at Sandwood House.

 

We support customers aged 18 and over with a wide range of support needs, including mental health needs, learning disabilities and people experiencing homelessness.

 

The aim of our service is to ensure our customers achieve their goals and aspirations through support and encouragement. Our dedicated team focus on delivering excellent, quality, support to our customers in a range of areas.

 

We value our team and encourage learning and progression through our comprehensive induction programme, as well as ongoing training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. We have our own Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

The position of Support Worker is referred to internally at Sanctuary as Project Worker.

 

The role of Support Worker will include:

  • Regularly assessing the needs of customers by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training, and employment
  • Supporting customers in their day to day living i.e., with cooking and cleaning
  • Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
  • Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping customers to build their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the customers and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience working with people who have experienced mental health issues, learning difficulties or homelessness
  • Sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management
  • Good understanding of occupancy agreements
  • Experience in support planning, key working, and risk management plans
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and to react effectively under pressure
  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
