We’re seeking an experienced Project Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our customers.

 

Simon Mead House is twelve bedded adult homelessness service.  

 

Our team of Project Workers work closely with our customers to understand their needs, create personalised plans, and support them to achieve their ambitions and maximise their independence.

 

We value our team and encourage learning and progression through our comprehensive induction programme, as well as ongoing training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. We have our own Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

The role of Project Worker will include:

  • Regular key working and support planning to ensure relevant support is provided to encourage our customers to maximise their own potential and level of independence
  • Assessing the needs of our customers by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training, and employment
  • Offering housing-related support
  • Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping customers to build their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the customers and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience of working with vulnerable people
  • A sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management and an understanding of occupancy agreements
  • The ability to work on your own initiative
  • The ability to react effectively under pressure
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
  • Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Health and Social Care or willing to work towards, is essential
