Tool Maker

Techniche Global are supporting a specialisit in the Development, Design and Manufacture of state of the art Antennas in London with appointing them a new Tool Maker.
An exciting opportunity for a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Tool Maker to join a small but well-equipped tool room / machine shop at a specialist communications equipment manufacturing firm based in Wandsworth south west London. The Tool Maker reports to the production support services team leader and is responsible for supporting the production team to meet its objectives by carrying out the duties detailed below.
Responsibilities of a Tool Maker:
* Assist with the design and manufacture of injection mould tooling and production jigs and fixtures.
* Manufacturing of prototype parts including turned parts and other machine parts.
* Supervising a small tool room, allocating jobs, machine scheduling, process planning and scheduling ensuring the smooth running of the tool room.
* Looking after stock control and housekeeping for the tool room including the sourcing and maintenance of new tooling, jigs and equipment.
* Train, assist and supervise other members of staff in the tool room.
* Assist with building and equipment maintenance reducing production disruption and down time to a minimum.
* Maintain responsibility for performing all duties in compliance with related legal/regulations and workplace policies.
* Ensure compliance with legal and health & safety standards.
* Assist in health & safety aspects of projects.
* Undertake maintenance, adjustment, repair and cleaning of workshop equipment and tools.
* Provide expert advice on the purchasing of components/materials that may be required for the tool room and other machinery and equipment.
* Making recommendations and contributing to the continual improvement of the workshop and its operation.
* Assisting with the modification and maintenance of existing equipment.
Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
* Professional toolmaking qualification or engineering qualification with significant relevant experience
* Must have experience in assembling, repairing and maintaining injection moulding tools, jigs and fixtures.
* Must be competent in the use of both manual machines, CNC machines and other tool room equipment.
* Hands on experience in using machine tools (lathe, milling, drilling, surface grinding, EDM, etc.) as a toolmaker.
* Ability to read and understand tooling drawings in both 2D and 3D.
* Sound decision making and problem-solving skills
* The ability to complete task on time and to specification
* Manual lathe and milling
* CNC conversational lathe and milling
* CAD/CAM experience ideal but not essential (Hexagon Visi used but training can be provided)

Working Hours
42.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday from 8am until 5pm.
