About us

GJE LLP is one of the UK’s leading intellectual property firms and is consistently recognised by the UK’s leading legal directories. We are based in modern offices in London’s Broadgate Tower where the edge of the City meets Shoreditch. Our culture is friendly, supportive, and collaborative. We offer a competitive salary, hybrid working, excellent benefits, and a whole host of regular social events and wellbeing initiatives. We think it’s a great place to work – and we have been awarded a star rating in the Best Companies accreditations!

There are three core practice groups covering Trade Marks, Chemistry & Life Sciences and IT & Engineering. GJE has built a strong and diverse client base working closely with entrepreneurs, universities, SMEs, multi-nationals and legal firms worldwide.

We’re proud of our open and supportive culture. Our Vision is of being the right choice for Intellectual Property – whomever you are and whatever our relationship. That Vision is supported by a stated set of principles, or values, which underpin the way we approach our work, manage our staff, and interact with our clients and other connections. Those values include Care, Clarity, Creativity, Collaboration and Commerciality – together, the 5Cs.

The role

The Trade Mark team, based in London and Munich, is commercially focused, motivated and proactive, and it carries out the full range of Trade Mark protection work, including:

Drafting and filing – including pre-filing advice to clients, issues of registrability, drafting specifications and preparing and advising on filing applications;

  • Prosecution;
  • Searches;
  • Contentious issues – including opposition and cancellation actions, infringement and anti-counterfeiting matters; and
  • Portfolio management and advice.

Consistent top-quality client service is a hallmark of GJE’s approach. You will use your skills to offer clear and practical advice. In addition to core responsibilities, you can choose to get involved in areas that interest you, be it business development initiatives, training and recruitment, delivering technical seminars or joining working groups to review internal procedures and propose change. You will be expected to keep up to date with legal developments in the intellectual property field, and regular team meetings are timetabled for all fee earners to knowledge.
