Trainee Careers Advisor

We have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Careers Advisor who is keen to further their formal training in this rewarding role within our client, a charity whose aim is to prepare and inspire young people to enter the workplace. As part of this role, you will undertake a Career Development Professional Apprenticeship that will lead to a Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (approximately one day per week). The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, providing one-to-one and group careers guidance to help inspire and motivate young people. You must hold a full and clean driving license and have daily access to a car. Part-time and/ or term-time applications will also be considered.

• Salary - £23,500 per annum (depending on experience).
• Full-time 35 hours per week (part-time and/ or term-time will also be considered).
• 30am to 4.30pm, with 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
• Office-based in Slough. Flexible Working Policy in place.
• Must hold driver's license and have daily access to a car to travel to various locations in and around Berkshire/ Buckinghamshire/ West London

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial 1-2-1 Careers Guidance interviews with young people in a variety of schools.
• Create Individual Action Plans to help young people map their next steps.
• Conduct follow-up 1-2-1 Careers Guidance interviews with young people to provide additional support where needed.
• Deliver Careers Guidance presentations and workshops as part of our School Events.
• Keep accurate records of all interactions with young people.
• Liaise with teachers and school staff as required.
• Adhere to good practice guidelines to ensure our Matrix accreditation is upheld.
• Ensure Safeguarding & Child Protection standards are maintained at all times.

Skills

• Experience of working with young people aged 11-18 years.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to adapt your style according to the situation.
• Ability to confidently use virtual communication platforms such as Zoom and MS Teams.
• Good IT skills and experience working with databases.
• Up-to-date knowledge of the secondary education system.
• Full/ clean driving license and the daily use of a car.
