Trainee Configuration Engineer

Are you a self-motivated individual with a keen interest in the engineering sector, naval ships and maritime support activities? As a Trainee Configuration Engineer, you will have a chance play a vital role in supporting a key defence organisation with a base in Portsmouth. Your contribution will impact the safety of critical maritime operations as you learn to manage databases and interpret technical data for vital ship and submarine sustainment programmes.
 
As a strategic partner to defence entities, the client provides a dynamic environment where technology and expertise converge to sustain complex assets, contributing to national security.
 
About the role:

• Learn the functions of the Master Record Data Centre.
• Manage and maintain a vital database related to maritime assets.
• Interpret and extract technical data from drawings, specifications, and publications.
• Update databases as required to ensure relevance and accessibility.
• Understand stakeholder requirements within the UK defence community.

About You:

• Ability to obtain UK security clearance.
• An interest in the engineering sector, naval ships, and maritime support activities.
• Proficient in IT, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Self-motivated and driven team player with strong communication skills.
• Some engineering job experience is desirable but not crucial.
• No formal engineering qualifications required.
• GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English essential.

• Salary: starting at £25,000, rising to £37,500 on completion of the apprenticeship
