Trainee Draughtsperson

Natural Stone Surfaces are a leading manufacturer of stone worktops, based in Chapel-en-le-Frith and cover the whole of the UK. Due to continued growth and staff progression, we are looking to recruit in to this role. Starting rate is typically age-related national minimum wage but with opportunity for progression to Trainee Draughtsperson / Draughtsperson over time. Past relevant experience may warrant introduction at a higher rate.

The main purpose of the role is to create high-quality detailed technical drawings based on designs supplied by Templaters. Check feasibility of manufacture based on company standards and make modifications accordingly using software programmes to create the final drawings.

The role involves liaison with all departments to understand design requirements and to provide technical advice and to maintain accurate records at all stages of the production process.

The candidate should have exceptional organisational and numerical skills, the ability to work well under pressure, using a proactive approach to all aspects of this role. Confident PC usage including Excel; and the ability to read and interpret drawings is essential. Any CAD experience is an added advantage as is knowledge of Moraware. Good communications are key as well as team work, attention to detail, creativity and accuracy. Any previous experience in the stone industry would be advantageous.

The job holder will also compare template drawings with original customer quotes, noting any changes and requesting additional payments accordingly. Identifying each individual customer's requirements, telephone and email communication and the ability to quickly learn the different materials, systems, etc is essential.

This is a full-time position with full flexibility required at all times. To support demand, start times will flex between 7.00 a.m. and 8.00 a.m. and finish times will flex in-line to fulfil a 45-hour week.
