Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to gain a postgraduate certificate in evidence-based interventions, as a trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP), validated by the University of Manchester. Come and join our dynamic team at Young Person’s Advisory Service.

These new training posts will commence in September 2024. The posts are part of the Children and Young People’s IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) initiative.

Applicants should have experience of working in children and young people’s Mental Health and emotional wellbeing and have an aptitude to undertake a postgraduate/graduate study programme.

For the postgraduate level course applicants are required to have a degree or be able to demonstrate academic equivalence.

For the graduate level course, applicants must be able to demonstrate they can study at this level (level 6) by completion of essay and portfolio.

EMHP trainees provide low intensity interventions for anxiety, depression and conduct problems including guided self-help. The training is provided by Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust in partnership with the University of Manchester and trainees will attend for study approximately two days a week, the remaining 3 will be based YPAS working two days in Secondary Schools and one day within our Community Hubs.

Post: Trainee EMHP (Education Mental Health Practitioner)

Trainee Salary: NJC Scale 4, SCP 10 (£25,545)

Training Contract: 12 months fixed (permanent on successfully qualification)

Qualified EMHP Salary: NJC point 22-24 (£31,364 - £33,024)

Hours: 35 hours per week

Closing Date: Tuesday 30th April (4pm)

Shortlisting: Tuesday 7th May 2024

Interviews: Monday 13th May 2024

Post commences: Monday 2nd September 2024

Training commences: September 2024 date TBC

NOTE: Students cannot be accepted onto any training programme if they are currently undertaking studies elsewhere or registered with another university.
