We are currently seeking a trainee Machine Operator for our client based in Fulbourn Cambridgeshire. This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis and presents a superb opportunity to join a growing company and be part of a busy team. Working in the company’s busy factory, where full time hours are worked over a 4 day week meaning you have each Friday off! The working hours are Monday – Thursday 06:45 – 17:00
The company
Are a well-established contract Manufacturing and Engineering company who provide precision machining, fabrication, welding and assembly services to a number of different industry sectors. Established in 1890, they have provided services to a wide range of sectors including, Scientific instruments, Food packaging, Oil and Gas, Rooflights to name a few. The company moved to their current site in Fullbourn and can offer a tidy, bright and clean working environment. The factory is currently a team of 17 skilled workers which offer a friendly and supportive working environment
The role
We are seeking a trainee Machine Operative to work in the company’s Aluminium extrusion machining department. Working on the preparation of Aluminium pieces and cutting and machining as necessary ready for the next step in the Assembly process.
Responsibilities will include:
• Loading materials onto machines either the CNC saw or milling machine
• Using hand tools and power tools to remove debris from products
• Learning how to read technical drawings and making sure to place items in the correct way before any drilling or cutting is done
• Placing finished products on to pallets ready for the next step in the process
• Make sure your working area is kept clean and tidy and adheres to H&S regulations
The Person
For this position we are ideally seeking someone who is keen to learn all aspects of working in a machining environment within an Engineering Company. This position will suit someone who has is interested in building a career within Manufacturing and willing to learn the following skills:
• Ideally some training, college or manual experience that could be transferable
• Or some previous experience within any kind of production or engineering industry
• Familiarity of working with metal products would be hugely beneficial but not essential
• Have excellent attention to detail and able to check your own work with a critical eye
• Be reliable and trustworthy
This role is offered on a permanent basis and the Working hours are 39 hours a week over a 4 day period : Monday – Thursday 06:45 – 17:00 (with 30 min unpaid lunch). The pay rate is negotiable depending on experience. This role is offered with the opportunity of progression and would suit someone who has a passion for engineering and would be interested in learning how to program and set CNC machines in the future, once established.
