We are now looking to recruit two Assistant Quantity Surveyors to be based at our head office in Altrincham, to work on our Rochdale Road and Warwick Road projects.
Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Working as part of the commercial team and looking to progress to a full quantity surveying position in the near future, reporting to a senior Quantity Surveyor, would include assisting with the following:
- Preparing Client valuations including thorough measurement as work progresses, through to final account.
- Cash flow forecasts and monitoring against programme
- Accurate valuation, forecasting and monitoring of site Preliminaries
- Ensure full recovery and valuation of variations/instructions
- Provision of timely and accurate documentation, warranties and the like, both internally and externally
- Ensuring that the procurement of subcontractors is undertaken in a timely and cost effective manner
- Administration of subcontractor contracts and accounts
- Ensuring that payments/notices are issued in accordance with the Subcontract and Construction Act
- Timely production of subcontract final accounts, including re-measurement and valuation of all variations as necessary to facilitate the optimum result
- Working with the senior Quantity Surveyor to ensure that both client and subcontractor accounts are managed through to their finalisation, including the release of retentions
- Assisting with compiling the monthly Cost/Value reconciliations and forecasts, including future risks and opportunities, prior to them being presented to the senior management team
- Ensure any commercial threats to projects are identified swiftly and communicated to the senior surveyor, assisting with the preparation of all contractual notices.
- Attending meetings and ensure that surveying information and cost advice is provided in an accurate, timely and proficient manner
Requirements
- Surveying Degree or working towards an equivalent qualification/experience
- Upwards of 3 years’ experience of working for a Main Contractor
- Design and build experience, ideally with JCT contracts.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
