Trainee Sales Engineer Technical

I am working for a well-established sales and engineering distributor in Aberdeen who are looking for the services of a technically minded Trainee Sales Engineer to join their highly experienced team. They are the main stockholder and distribution business for one of their Global clients, who deal in industrial pneumatic and electrical pumps, which include a wide selection of medium to high pressure pumping and spraying systems for the application of protective coatings for various industries across the UK.
Primarily, this is an office-based position in their head office in Aberdeen, where you will promote the client's product and start to understand the technical aspects behind the associated pumps. They adopt a 'Learn from the ground up' approach which will enable you to understand the product as an expert and take this knowledge to their established client base. When the main training in the products is complete and the successful candidate obtains the level of technical knowledge, this will allow them to go out to the local Aberdeen marketplace and sell the products to external clients.
They are seeking a person with sales and practical experience to communicate with customers on a regular basis and submit proposals for the supply of equipment, accessories, and spares.
Responsibility for the generation, receipt and recording of sales enquiries; the subsequent compilation for approval of cost estimates and quotations - through to the presentation of proposals to the clients.
In time, following specific product training and hands-on experience, the role would develop into that of a more technical sales advisor role having face-to-face contact with customers when required.
The successful candidate would be expected to show initiative regarding future sales opportunities and contribute to the business development of the company.
Essentials:
- Engineering background/experience.
- Sales experience required.
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Must work well in a small team of people, with the willingness for flexibility required by a combined sales/warehouse/servicing environment.
- Communicate well with others.
- Full driving licence.
Main product ranges:
Fluid transfer pumps - principally pneumatic, but with a developing range of electrically operated pumps.
This includes a wide selection of medium and high-pressure pumping and spraying systems for the application of protective coatings.
Basic stand-alone pumps for a variety of industrial applications, up to integrated fluid supply and dispensing systems.
Equipment for surface preparation, and related products in connection with industrial painting processes.
Some degree of experience with these products would be desired, but training will be given - primarily in-house but also from the equipment manufacturers.
