We are now looking to recruit our 2024 cohort of Trainee Solicitors to join Thompsons Solicitors across several of our office locations including Nottingham.
Our Trainee Solicitors will be undertaking a training contract commencing this year, on a 2-year Fixed-Term basis. The successful candidates will be developing the relevant skills and experience in drafting, legal research, interviewing clients, negotiating and much more to develop all the skills needed to become a successful litigator.

- Candidates should have an excellent fit with our vision and values, empathy with the trade union movement, and a passion for working only for clients who have been injured or mistreated.
- By completing a 2-year period of recognised training (training contract), this involves developing all the skills and experience you will need, including drafting, legal research, interviewing clients, negotiating, and preparing for trials.
- Depending on your location, you will primarily be based at one of the office locations above however following your initial '90-day induction period' will have the opportunity to work on a 50% hybrid working basis.
- This period of training will give you the opportunity to gain exposure to areas which could include: Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, Employment Rights (discrimination, equality, unfair dismissals etc) as well as Criminal Law & Professional Misconduct.
- Whilst meeting the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, you will be involved in cutting-edge litigation.
Key requirements
- A Law Degree and prior completion of the Legal Practice Course (you must have already completed the LPC to be considered for the training contract).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client care which is an important part of the role.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work quickly and accurately.
- Committed to meeting deadlines and excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
- High levels of initiative, motivation, and resilience to deliver the highest quality of service to our clients.
