Job description

We are currently seeking a Trainer/ Community Tutor to join The Bedford College Group at our Dunstable Campus. In this dynamic role, you’ll be at the heart of both our college facilities and the local community. As an Employability trainer, you’ll empower learners with essential skills for the workforce. Your mission? Forge strong connections with external partners like JCP, ensuring top-notch teaching and learning experiences. Plus, you’ll directly link students to employment opportunities once they’ve completed their programs. As a Trainer you play an important role in the success of our students through: Coordinating and Teaching Employability Skills and Community Programs - You’ll be responsible for organizing and delivering employability skills training and Community programs to students. Recruitment and Selection - You’ll use initial assessments to identify suitable students and use effective recruitment strategies to help build a diverse and engaged student base. Course Delivery and Targets - Throughout the year, you’ll teach employability and other relevant courses aligning with targets set by the Head of Department. Stakeholder Engagement - Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders (e.g. Job Centre Plus, employers, local authorities) to help recruit students and create opportunities for work experience. Student Support and Assessment - You’ll provide both academic and pastoral support to students, helping them reach their full potential. Ideal candidates will have experience of: Training others in non-traditional teaching environments Working within the employability sector Key Skills - Essential Effective, confident communicator Effective time management skills Sound administration and organisation skills Ability to work independently with minimum supervision Qualifications - Essential Maths and English qualifications to GCSE grade C or equivalent or ability to achieve. About The Bedford College GroupThe Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
