About the role
We are looking to recruit a Training Instructor - Diving to work on a permanent basis from the National Hyperbaric Centre in Aberdeen. In this role, you will deliver theory and hands-on training to customers on a variety of technical topics including operation and maintenance of diving helmets, regulators, rebreathers, and diver reclaim systems as well as general dive technician subjects.
As a Training Instructor - Diving, you will be responsible for the following:
- Delivery of course content in a face-to-face classroom and workshop setting and potentially online.
- Assist with the upkeep and development of training material such as presentations, handouts, and assessments.
- Deliver JFD standard lesson plans
- Ensure quality and continual development of course materials
- Maintain stock of consumables and reorder as required.
What do you need?
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable speaking in front of small groups, ranging from 1 to 12 technicians. You should have effective interpersonal and communication skills and be able to share knowledge in and engaging manner. You must also take a proactive approach to health and safety leadership and be able to work on your own specified lessons plans and learning objectives.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Substantial experience as a dive technician working offshore.
- Experience maintaining diving equipment to manufacturer’s specifications and industry standards
- Strong knowledge of industry guidance such as IMCA, IOGP, etc.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience working on diving equipment such as helmets, regulators, diver reclaim systems, etc.
- Technical training experience is advantageous but an engaging personality, strong communication skills, and confidence are more important as full training can be provided.
