Job Title: Transport Planner
Location: Preston
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum
Our client is a reliable family run haulage company with exciting plans for operational expansion. This is an opportunity to contribute towards the growth and success of an organisation as a valued member of the team with great prospects for further career progression.
This is a key role within the General Haulage department. You will be responsible for proactively supporting the operation by producing optimised and effective daily Transport Plans. Focused on delivering high levels of accuracy to support profitability and customer service for the organisation.

* Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
* Previous experience in a transport office is essential
* Ability to work under pressure, both individually and as part of a team
* Good UK geographical knowledge
* Be familiar with the rules regarding WTD and drivers hours
* Good numerical and analytical skills
* Knowledge of system-based planning tools
* Excellent IT skills
* Flexible approach to work demands, including some evening and weekend work.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Previous experience within a warehousing context advantageous
Main responsibilities:
* Planning and coordinating daily driver load movements for General Haulage
* Maintain effective communication with the Sales Team and other departments
* Ensure WTD and driving hours are being correctly adhered to
* Communicate with Operational Leads to maximise collaboration between departments
* Manage resource levels and work closely with 3rd Party Hauliers and Agencies
* Provide support for the development of continuous improvement initiatives
* Operate and maintain Transport Systems including Road Runner, Microlise and Tachomaster
