Job Overview:
As a Transport Planner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our logistics network. You will be responsible for planning and coordinating delivery routes for multiple drop-offs, optimizing vehicle capacity, and maximizing delivery efficiency while maintaining high service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Route Planning: Develop optimized delivery routes for multi-drop deliveries, taking into account factors such as distance, traffic patterns, vehicle capacity, and delivery deadlines.
- Vehicle Utilization: Coordinate the allocation of vehicles to maximize capacity utilization and minimize empty running, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource efficiency.
- Schedule Management: Monitor delivery schedules and adjust plans as necessary to accommodate changes in demand, traffic conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances, ensuring on-time deliveries.
- Communication: Liaise with drivers, warehouse staff, and other relevant stakeholders to communicate delivery schedules, route updates, and any special instructions or requirements.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, including driver hours regulations, vehicle weight restrictions, and safety guidelines.
- Performance Analysis: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery accuracy, on-time performance, and fuel efficiency, and identify areas for improvement.
- Problem Solving: Proactively identify and address logistical challenges or issues that may arise during the delivery process, implementing effective solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains, contributing to the overall improvement of our logistics operations.
- Customer Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for customers regarding their delivery requirements, providing timely updates on delivery status, estimated arrival times, and any issues or concerns that may arise.
- Problem Resolution: Respond promptly to customer inquiries or complaints, investigating and resolving issues related to deliveries, damaged goods, or other concerns to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience in transport planning or logistics management, with a focus on multi-drop deliveries.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
Proficiency in transportation management software and route optimization tools.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in the transportation industry.
Ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
