Assist the Senior Transport Planner with day to day operations.
Liaising with the drivers throughout the day and monitoring their progress to ensure they complete required work in the required timescales to meet our customer needs.
Identify potential and currently problems/delays that may affect delivery deadlines and find appropriate solutions.
Booking deliveries with customers.
Communicating effectively with customers to keep them informed of the progress of their deliveries.
Some involvement with planning and the successful candidate will need to learn aspects of this role to be able to cover lead planner as and when required (annual leave).
Assist drivers with any issues they may encounter while carrying out their daily deliveries.
Have an awareness of industry compliance and relevant legislation that the operation is subject to.
Answering any incoming phone calls and dealing with them in the appropriate way.
Creating new job sheets on in house computer systems.
Carry out any other tasks required to keep the transport office and vehicles/drivers running efficiently.
