About the role
At DS Smith we’re actively recruiting for a Transport Scheduler to join our packaging site in Lockerbie. As the Transport Scheduler you will be responsible for ensuring that all deliveries are made to our customers on time. The role will involve working as part of a team, liaising with Customer Services, planning and our 3rd party Transport provider.
You will ensure that our stock is accurate and up to date, ready to be delivered to our customers. You’ll also be involved in invoicing, ensuring our costs are kept within budget and reduced where possible.
- Plan customer deliveries and back hauls to ensure delivery window targets and safety standards are met in accordance with legislation and company policies and procedures.
- Supporting the Despatch Manager in helping to carry out transport office related activity.
- You will carry out consumable purchasing using our SAP system
- Liaise with stakeholders and customers to communicate routes, delays and possible issues with deliveries and collections, working in partnership with sub-contractors to source replacement drivers.
- Handle and resolve customer queries and complaints in line with company procedures.
- Generate monthly KPI’s for the Planning & Procurement Team and complete any ad-hoc administration as required
About you
Required experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Be competent in using Electronic Planning Systems (SAP would be a nice to have)
- And have great excel skills
