As a Transport Supervisor you will develop the transport function and plan, co-ordinate, supervise, and report upon activities within the transport operation. You’ll provide effective leadership through communication, motivation, training and development, and ensure all daily targets are met.
As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislative and corporate requirements relating to transport
- Manage cost and service in line with agreed Key Performance Indicators
- Ensure quality standards are maintained in line with OTIF measures.
- Direct the daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for team members.
- Ensure the team achieves the performance targets required and contributes to the achievement of service levels.
- Liaise with the Warehouse teams to ensure all loads are completed accurately and loaded on time.
- Ensure returns are maximised.
- Liaise collaboratively with customer services to improve customer satisfaction levels in line with agreed business targets.
- Take accountability for employee satisfaction levels by applying good Leadership and Employee engagement practices.
- Ensure compliance with the organisations health, safety and security procedures and contribute to risk assessments and the development of safe systems of work.
- Promote and behave in a way consistent with the organisation’s vision, values, and principals.
- Facilitate effective communication, between themselves, their team, their peers, and the Management Team, including business developments and performance targets
- Communicate and support the implementation of internal continuous improvement tools and techniques
- Contribute towards projects that drive down cost / improve service.
- Actively manage cost, utilising management information to determine and act on trends.
About You:
We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!
- Experience as a transport first line manager
- Proven experience of delivering excellent customer service
- Capability to plan and manage your own workload and communicate effectively to others
- Knowledge of transport legislation, Working Time Directive, Drivers hours
- Computer literate in the Microsoft Office package, with the ability to learn in house systems
- Experience of working in an operational/transport environment
- This role requires some flexibility to cover other shifts when required

Salary: £30,744 per annum, plus 22 days rising holiday plus bank holidays, pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits scheme
