At TSB we’re all here to give money confidence to our customers and communities. Wherever you work in TSB you can make a real difference to your career, our business, and the wider community.
Finance plays a central role in supporting the TSB strategy. Understanding the financial position of our business, from branch level reconciliation through to high level strategy support, is fundamental to us bringing more competition to UK banking - ultimately making banking better for all UK consumers. After all, good business decisions are based on good financial information.
We’re looking someone who is passionate about their career
We’re delighted to offer unique Industrial Placement opportunities within our Treasury function, which is part of Finance, at our Head Office in London. We’re after motivated and talented individuals who are eager to develop and gain invaluable specialist knowledge.
Could you help shape the future of Treasury within Banking?
How you’ll make a difference
Successful candidates will be given key experience in the Treasury department and the opportunity to work with a number of teams across Capital, Funding & Liquidity Management (CF&L), Asset & Liability Management (ALM), Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP), Secured Funding, Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk and the Front Office (dealing room).
Treasury plays a crucial role within the Bank, providing market facing trade capability, investment strategies, risk management, and quantitative interest rate and customer behaviour modelling. The Treasury function is critical in ensuring TSB has enough capital, funding and liquidity to fulfil its business plans to lend well which ensuring that TSB manages its risks safely and efficiently. As part of this, Treasury plays a centralised role, acting as the ‘Bank within the Bank’ by centralising business unit (BU) risk within Treasury through the Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) process, which allows the business units to focus on products and serving its customers, without needing to also manage interest rate or liquidity risk. Treasury manages this risk by modelling expected customer behaviour and neutralising the risk through external transactions executed in the market with other counterparties.
Interns within Treasury can expect to gain an understanding of the Treasury department and its key function within the bank. They will be involved in financial modelling, stress testing, interpreting regulation and looking at how we can improve things. As part of their role, they will be expected to learn new technical skills and to develop analytical capabilities. They can expect to learn about the capital markets, hedging strategies and most importantly risk management. Working in a team responsible for the very core of the bank, they will have exposure to other areas such as Finance, Hedge Accounting, Oversight and many other aspects of day-to-day Treasury life. In summary, interns will be one of the team.
