Job description

Risk Management. The successful candidate will be responsible in leading activities to refresh and update the Policy and Frameworks over our balance sheet risks with particular focus on formulating an Operating Model and Framework for oversight over Financial Planning activities relating to Group and Global Business Financial Planning and Forecasting. The role holder will work closely with the Primary Risk stewards for Capital, Stress Testing, Recovery Resolution and Financial planning to define/ refine the operating models and support the work to operationalise the agreed frameworks, working with various First Line of defence and Second line of defence teams across all levels of the organisation to drive adoption and compliance to the agreed framework.
Key Responsible
• Lead and coordinate the activities to formulate / update / optimise Policies and Frameworks across the Corporate Treasury and Finance Risks working closely with the Primary Risk stewards for Capital, Stress Testing, Recovery Resolution and Financial Planning.
• Support the Corporate Treasury and Finance Risk Primary risk steward in operationalising the updated policy/ framework through robust communications with the relevant First Line and Second Line of Defence teams, maintaining active and open dialogue through periodic and ad-hoc updates, ensuring a good feedback loop.
• Support the Primary risk steward for Financial Planning to develop a comprehensive and granular operating Model and framework for second line of defence oversight over Financial Planning processes. This will entail;
• Review of Business Planning and Forecasting principles, planning, procedures, limits, standards, controls, metrics and thresholds.
• Work closely with Global Treasury Strategic Planning and Forecasting teams to understand their operating Model and how their defined procedures are operationalised.
• Ensure all elements of the Business Planning and Forecasting process are considered and that the division of accountability / responsibilities between the Strategic Planning and Forecasting teams within First Line and the Second Line of defence team are clearly articulated.
• Engage with the primary Risk Stewards for Capital and Stress Testing to inform the Operating Model for Financial Planning Risk to ensure process interdependencies and linkages are well considered and addressed through the operating model.
• Review, challenge and provide stewardship over the Financial Planning key processes working with First Line (Strategic Planning and Forecasting and Global business lines) providing constructive challenge to proposed approaches or solutions provided by Risk owners, mindful of the synergies to existing processes and specificities of Strategic Planning and Forecasting, key stages and processes, to ensure efficient and effective solutions are obtained.
• Maintain an active and open dialogue and partner with various Risk Stewards, CROs, CFOs, Strategic Planning and Forecasting teams through periodic and ad-hoc updates.
Knowledge:
• Excellent knowledge of Treasury Risks, particularly as pertains Capital Risk.
• Excellent working knowledge of Stress Testing and Recovery and Resolution related regulation and processes.
• Excellent knowledge of the processes that go into Strategic and Operating Plans within a large organisation, including Finance & Resource Planning.
• Has a background in Finance, Accounting processes.
• Has developed a high level of professionalism and competency which helps to determine solutions around appropriate risk measures, risk processes, risk monitoring and management.
• Ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the most senior level in the organisation.
• Very strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.
• Operating Model Re-engineering knowledge.
• Advanced analysis techniques including change management and implementation management techniques and approaches.
• Overall financial services industry knowledge with specific functional expertise.
Experience:
• Proven experience of Treasury or Treasury Risk Management within a large financial organisation.
• Proven experience of working across all levels of a large financial organisation to understand cross-functional linkages and interdependencies, as well as the implications of risk at both a strategic level and at the business unit level, with good understanding of other areas e.g. Finance, Accounting, Operational, Legal, etc.
• Proven experience of developing operating models / risk frameworks / policy and procedures, driving adoption and compliance.
• Proven ability to motivate and lead people, employing appropriate management styles to drive negotiations get buy-in / achieve a specific outcome.
• Excellent communication, inter-personal and negotiating skills.
• Excellent decision making and problem-solving ability.
• Advanced judgmental skills to identify and resolve problems.
• Experience of working with large teams and resources located remotely.
• Proven ability to work across regions whilst maintaining a global perspective.
• Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and sponsors.
• Extensive experience of using multiple analysis techniques in a change environment.
