Our client a leading International Law firm is seeking to recruit a Senior Tax Manager based in the Guildford office. The firm offers a friendly and inclusive working environment and as a result has excellent staff attrition, the firm offers an agile working policy with a minimum of 50% of the time spent in the office. It is possible to work in one of the offices nationally but a presence in the Guildford office is key.
The Senior Tax Manager role will involve providing an advisory service to clients and also supporting the Private Client team with supporting figures. 40% of the role will be compliance focused with half spent on overseeing the compliance team and the remaining on the more complex compliance work.
Responsibilities include:
- To undertake fee-earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the division.
- To contribute to the successful development of the firm in line with the business plan and firm's commonality of purpose.
- To deliver a high quality commercial legal service ensuring personal compliance with quality standards and professional ethics.
- Provide direct assistance to the Trust and Tax Director and tax/accountancy support to the wider Private Client team.
- Lead on client relationships, progressing matters to successful conclusion.
- Liaise with clients, intermediaries and tax authorities in a clear and relevant manner.
- Identify and advising on tax-planning opportunities for clients.
- Supervision and preparation of:
- Trust and estate accounts
- Company and personal, estate and trust tax computations
- HM Revenue & Customs forms associated
- Various accounting reports for UK and overseas tax compliance matters
- Assist in overseeing the team's caseload of individuals, trusts and estates.
- Preparation of tax forms including SA100, SA900, IHT100, CT600
- Preparing CGT calculations
- Preparing trust accounts
- Preparing estate accounts
- Preparing 60-day CGT submissions
- Preparing non-resident trust tax pool calculations
- Assist and provide tax advice to clients of the firm
- Support in business development opportunities for the team
- Support development of Trainee Tax and Accounts Manager.
The ideal candidate will have previous Private Client experience alongside experience in Estates and Trusts and ideally be ACCA/ATT/CTA/ STEP qualified or QBE. This is an exciting role and offers the opportunity for a candidate to progress in a firm in a varied role. Further study support will be given to a candidate seeking to progress with their studies.
