For more than 60 years, British Heart Foundation (BHF) has been at the forefront of cutting-edge research to save and improve millions of lives. Despite the progress we’ve made, our work has never been more needed; heart and circulatory diseases remain the biggest killers globally, with around 7.6 million people living with these conditions today in the United Kingdom alone. Our lifesaving work is primarily advanced through long-term investment in medical research, and we currently have over £400 million of BHF-funded research underway. Powered by an incredible team of volunteers, colleagues, supporters, partners, and scientists, we are more ambitious and determined than ever with potential cures and treatments we need now in sight.
Our Board of Trustees is responsible for providing appropriate oversight, governance, and leadership to the charity in pursuit of our strategies and fulfilment of our charitable purposes. We are looking for two new Trustees to support this work, who exemplify and champion our values of being brave, informed, compassionate, and driven. One of these Trustees will be a technology-focused member of our Audit & Risk Committee. As BHF embarks on a multi-year programme to ensure BHF has the right systems, tools, and data insight to grow, this Trustee will support and advise BHF to ensure it achieves its goals from this programme. They will be a credible, visionary leader adept at translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and at advising on how technology can help fulfil an organisation’s strategic goals. They will also bring a collaborative approach to their membership on our Board, offering constructive challenge and supporting collective decision-making.
