Job description

Applicants are required to include a CV & covering letter. We are seeking two or more temporary Research Assistants to join the ProACTIVE research team, examining the impact and effectiveness of Alcohol Care Teams in England. This is an exciting opportunity for self-motivated researchers to join a highly experienced team funded by the National Institute for Health Research (https://fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/NIHR152084). These positions will be based at Rotherham General Hospital, Moorgate Road, Rotherham, S60 2UD and Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Thorne Road, Doncaster, DN2 5LT where the successful candidates will work with Amanda Marklew (Principal Investigator, Rotherham) and Rebecca Pugh (Principal Investigator, Doncaster) to deliver the ProACTIVE research study. The successful candidates will be based at one of the two hospital sites (candidates can express a preference) but will be expected to travel to the other site if required. The post holders will be employed by the University of Hull and be accountable to Professor Thomas Phillips and report to Dr Philippa Case, the ProACTIVE Research Fellow and Trial Manager. They will also have honorary contracts with both the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust and Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Successful candidates will be based at Rotherham General Hospital or Doncaster Royal Infirmary for the majority of their time. As such we would welcome applications from candidates who live locally to the area, or within a practicable travelling distance. There may be some occasional travel required as part of the role to the University of Hull for the purposes of induction, training and team meetings. The successful candidates will recruit patients with lived experience of alcohol dependence to a quasi-experimental study. They will be based within Rotherham General Hospital or Doncaster Royal Infirmary, where they will work closely with the Principal Investigators, clinical research nurses and ward staff to identify and recruit participants, take informed consent, conduct research questionnaires and enter data. The ideal candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, in addition to experience of administering psychometric tests, and engaging with vulnerable people in clinical or research settings.   These posts are for a period of up to 6-months with variable hours across the 7-day week available. The role is flexible, and hours will be dependent upon progress with participant recruitment. We require 10 patients to be recruited to this study per week. This role will require a enhanced DBS check for Adult workforce. Please upload a CV and Covering Letter. The University requires the right to close this post once a sufficient number of applications have been submitted. It is encouraged that you complete the application at your earliest convenience to avoid disappointment. More information on the programme of research can be found here: https://www.hull.ac.uk/work-with-us/research/institutes/health-trials/study/proactive Interviews are expected to be held in January 2024. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the study websites and to contact Dr Philippa Case (ProACTIVE Research Fellow and Trial Manager) at p.c.case@hull.ac.uk for an informal discussion.  Further details: Find out more about our roles and opportunities by following us on social media #HullUniJobs HullUniJobs JobsHullUni uniofhulljobs At Hull we are committed to equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion at every level, because we believe a diverse workforce brings broader expertise, improved innovation and greater success for all.  Please note that we are unable to respond to enquiries, accept CVs or applications from Recruitment Agencies.
