About The Role

Job Introduction:
Skills & Learning Adult Community Education, is an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ provider of learning and development across Dorset. We are looking for tutors to join our existing team to deliver the government funded Multiply numeracy programme and English functional skills courses in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) and Dorset.
Maths tutor:
Multiply is a Department for Education numeracy initiative, funded until 31st March 2025. This project aims to help adults improve their ability to understand and use number skills effectively in daily life, home, and work: improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more sense of the facts in the media or improving skills specific to a line of work. The emphasis is on innovative approaches to developing relevant numeracy skills in adults who don’t currently have a GCSE or Level 2 maths qualification, who may lack confidence in their number skills and/or who need some support before starting qualification courses.
As a Multiply Tutor at Skills & Learning, you will develop, plan and deliver new courses and workshops for our adult learners, fostering creative approaches that take the focus off ‘scary maths’ and instead explore numeracy topics in a practical way relevant to everyday life and work. You will be expected to create schemes of work and lesson plans, identify and create high quality teaching and learning resources. You will support learners to achieve their numeracy goals and make good progress.
We welcome applications from people with classroom experience in any subject who have a minimum of GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent in Maths and the confidence and skills to plan and deliver numeracy provision up to and including Functional Skills Level 2. A recognised teaching qualification or equivalent experience, particularly in teaching maths to adults, would be an advantage but is not essential. We will offer further training and development opportunities to the successful candidates including the Level 3 Award in Education and Training for those who don’t already have a formal teaching qualification.
All posts are subject to enhanced DBS clearance. Interviews may be scheduled before the closing date shown as we may consider more than one post holder.
For an informal conversation about these posts, please contact Hannah Ball, Multiply Programme Manager, by email: hball@salbcp.com.
This is a variable hours contract. Skills & Learning delivers learning all year round across various locations in Dorset and online.
English tutor:

We'd be delighted to hear from anyone who can deliver both maths and English skills.
Role purpose:
To support learners to identify and achieve their personal learning goals by providing a high quality, enjoyable learning experience.
Teaching, supporting and assessing learners, course management, communication, registration of learners for exams and own continuing professional development.
Main Responsibilities:

You will support learners to achieve their goals and make good progress.
The ideal candidate:

The successful candidate will join a teaching and learning team of some 150 staff. Most of the team are part-time and report to, and are supported by, a designate Area Programme Manager
