Main duties of the job

If you have answered ‘yes’ to all of the above then you could be the person we are looking for!
We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual who can work as part of a team and as an individual alongside our Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Teams to book appointments for patients on a cancer pathway to help improve the pathways, ensure swift diagnosis and treatment of suspected and confirmed cancer patients.
You must be IT literate and have the ability to navigate Trust IT systems. As well as being an effective communicator you must be able to communicate with a wide range of colleagues including admin staff, PA’s, senior managers and consultants. The ideal candidate must be able to work between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00. This post is hybrid working with three days working on site and two days per week working from home. Cancer Services offices are based at Whitney Court, Hamilton Street, Oldham, OL4 1DB.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised educational standards, i.e. GCSE ‘O’ Level Grade A-C or equivalent in English Language
  • ECDL/Clait or relevant experience
  • A level qualification or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent knowledge

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven recent experience of working within the NHS
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications
  • Previous experience of working within a team and also alone
  • Experience of dealing with any changes to the service in a positive way
  • Recent experience of working in a capacity & demand target driven service
  • Understanding and experience of acute hospital outpatient/inpatient pathways
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of booking processes

Skills/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Literate in order to transfer information on to a computer system and standard departmental documents
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to deal with wide range of NHS staff/patients on the telephone and face to face using tact and empathy
  • To demonstrate the ability to work to short timescales as and when required to provide an efficient and timely services
  • Assist in using waiting lists to offer choice and book in accordance with current guidelines
  • Be able to prioritise own workload
  • Be able to use initiative in planning daily tasks

  • Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels

  • To work additional hours to meet the demands of the service if required
